The Designing Effective Instruction module explores how to plan and deliver lessons that maximise learning. Using Rosenshine’s Principles as a foundation, participants will focus on effective questioning, scaffolding, and gradually fading support. The goal is to promote pupil independence, deepen understanding, and ensure all learners make sustained progress.

The Facilitating Group Learning module explores cooperative learning strategies that promote oracy and active pupil engagement. Participants will examine how structured talk supports deeper understanding, critical thinking, and improved learning outcomes. The session focuses on practical techniques to encourage purposeful dialogue, collaboration, and effective group work in the classroom. 

Aims:  
Identify key cooperative learning strategies that support oracy development in the classroom.  
Understand the importance of oracy in enhancing pupil outcomes.

Module 2.2- Facilitating Group Learning

This session explores the role of high-quality classroom talk in supporting pupil understanding, vocabulary development and engagement. Participants will develop a practical oracy toolkit, grounded in research and the oracy framework, to structure, model and scaffold purposeful talk across phases. Through examples and activities, early career teachers will learn how to embed oracy into everyday teaching to enhance learning and participation.

The Adaptive Teaching for All Learners module explores evidence-informed approaches to meeting diverse pupil needs. Participants will examine the shift from traditional differentiation to adaptive teaching, the importance of flexible grouping, and maintaining high expectations for all learners. The session also highlights using assessment to inform responsive, inclusive teaching decisions.

Participants will examine how to use assessment data to inform planning, tailor instruction, and provide meaningful feedback. The session focuses on practical strategies to ensure assessment supports learning rather than simply measuring it.
